Start at the official Hmcosrs page. Don’t Google “HMCosrs download” and click the first ad-laden site. That’s how you end up with malware.
You’ll see clear download buttons for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Pick yours. No guessing.
If you’re on an M1 Mac, grab the ARM64 version (not) the Intel one. (Yes, it matters.)
Click it. Wait for the file to finish. Then double-click the installer (.exe,) .dmg, or .deb (and) walk through the prompts.
Skip nothing. Say yes to adding shortcuts.
HMCosrs runs on almost anything. My 2013 laptop handles it fine. But if it won’t open, check your Java version.
You need Java 17 or newer. (No, Java 8 won’t cut it.)

I used Tile Markers on my first day. Marked the tutor, the bank chest, the furnace. No more squinting at tiles trying to remember where stuff is.

Ground Items makes dropped coins and logs pop against the grass. No more walking over loot because it blended in. Yes, even on Tutorial Island.
You don’t need all the plugins right away. But skipping them means doing things the hard way. Why restart the tutorial just to find the right NPC again?
